This is one of the nicest looking and driving old cars out there, you won't find anything better than and certainly not a better price than this! - SOLD!!
Up for sale is a restored 1965 Mustang GT Coupe. This is like buying a brand new 1965 Mustang GT with the added benefit of a modern roller cam 302 and automatic overdrive. The car turns about 1800 rpm at 70 mph. It is loaded with options and came straight from Southern California to Missouri to be restored. The Rangoon Red paint is as slick as any high dollar show car out there. The body panels and glass all line up super nice. The bright red Deluxe Pony Interior is absolutely stunning and perfect. All lights, gauges, and radio work perfectly. All of the windows, front and rear roll up and down nicely. The doors close securely and sound like a bank vault when they close. They don't have the typical Mustang clunks and rattles. All of the door jambs, fender lips and inside the trunk are perfect glossy red paint. The car was disassembled, and painted in pieces. It was then re-assembled, color sanded and painted again. The car starts effortlessly hot or cold. It is ready to be your daily driver if that is your preference. The temp gauge never goes over 1/4 off of cold no matter what the outside temp is and no matter how long you sit and idle. There are only 500+/- miles on the complete restoration. The paint is perfect. There isn't a single chip, scratch, or ding anywhere. Again, this is like buying a brand new 1965 Mustang.
Although it looks completely stock it has a few very important modifications. Number one is the Roller Cam 5.0 and AOD transmission. It also has a Pertronix Igniter II ignition and Stainless Steel Brakes Corp power disc brake conversion kit. This car now runs and drives nicer than about any other 65 Mustang out there. Another big reason for the flawless drivability is the carburetor. The correct C5ZF Autolite 4100 was sent to Pony Carburetors for their concourse restoration plus they modified it to be correctly calibrated for the roller cam 5.0 HO. The carb refurbishment cost over $600. Everything on this car was done to that degree. This is a very high quality car both before and after restoration.
This rust free Mustang was built at the San Jose plant and sold new in LA. It came to Missouri about 5 years ago for a complete restoration. One of nicest things about this particular Mustang is the fact that this is it's first paint job. It still had its faded but original paint when it was brought from California. The doors, fenders, 1/4 panels, tail panel, and trunk are the original date correct sheetmetal that the car was built with in 1965. The hood is a perfect straight original - not reproduction. The front lower valance is an NOS C5ZZ part. The only reproduction piece of sheetmetal on the car is the rear valance.
The restoration includes everything that would be done to a museum quality car except for being mounted on a rotisserie to paint and detail the underside of the car. The bottom has only been cleaned, it still has the factory primer. I wanted to be able to drive this car without throwing away money dirtying up the underside of freshly detailed car.
This car is optioned with the A-Code 289 4V (now a 5.0), GT package, Automatic trans (now AOD Overdrive), Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes (Stainless Steel Brakes power disc upgrade), Air Conditioning, Console, Rally Pac Tach and clock, Sun-X factory tinted glass, Styled Steel Wheels and the very desirable Deluxe Pony Interior. The exhaust system is Flowmaster.
It is very mellow with just hint of muscle. This car is turnkey drive-able right now. It does not have the quirks and idiosyncrasies of a typical old car. It's just dependable fun and enjoyment. I built this car to be my own personal car but I'm going to have to let it go. Fly in and drive home. Columbia Regional Airport is about 30 minutes from my house.
